Tell us a brief bit about you.
I am a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health coach, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Practitioner, Nutritionist, a continual student of all things health and well being and an artist.
I am also a cancer survivor and this is where my journey into health and well being started, from a need to heal myself.
Tell us about Flourish Wellbeing
Flourish Wellbeing helps smart, savvy, busy women to be the healthiest, happiest versions of themselves.
In our modern society where women are juggling so many responsibilities, their health and the health of their families are suffering. I help busy women identify their health goals and put together plans and strategies to enable them to reach their goals in a way that they can easily integrate into their lives, so that they make life long, positive changes.
Flourish Wellbeing is all about the client and offering as much value as possible to each and every one of them which is specific to their unique body and needs. It’s also about educating and raising awareness in the world.
Why is Flourish Wellbeing focused on women? Because if I can empower a woman to take charge of her health and well being, have more energy and vitality and feel happy and fulfilled, this will create a ripple effect and she will bring positive changes to her family, friends and community as a whole.
What Made you Start?
In 2006, at just 31, I was diagnosed with mouth cancer. Never having smoked and not being a heavy drinker this diagnosis left me a bit baffled. So I decided to learn about healing, disease prevention and self-improvement for my own preservation, but it soon became a beautiful obsession.
I realised that many of the things I had been doing for years because I thought it was best for my health, were not necessarily the best things for me and that there were many people like me out there – misinformed and confused. So, I started to share what I had been learning and researching with others in the hope that I could help them avoid ill health. I discovered I had a real passion for helping others, and that is when I started Flourish Wellbeing.
What is your dream for your business?
My dream is to build Flourish Wellbeing to be THE go to place for advice on all things health and wellbeing. I also want to get to a position where I have a bank of health coaches that share my philosophy, so that we can reach more people and positively impact the larger community.
Who has supported you in your journey so far?
I have been fortunate to have a very supportive partner, family and friends. It helps when you have people around you that believe in you and are your cheerleaders.
Who is your hero and greatest inspiration (Famous person or other)?
This is a tough question! I don’t think I have one hero or inspiration. There are many people I think are heroes and I find inspiring for very different reasons, some are famous, some are not, but I think if we take the time to get to know people and listen we can find inspiration in everyone.
What is your greatest joy about running Flourish Wellbeing?
The greatest joy I get from running Flourish Wellbeing is when I see the positive changes in clients. That’s what it’s all about!
What is your greatest challenge in running Flourish Wellbeing?
Getting everything done. When you start a business you find yourself having to wear many hats.
How have you overcome the challenges of running a business?
I had to learn to prioritise, let go and figure out what I could outsource to others to do for me.
What advice would you give to others on following their passions and dreams?
My biggest advice is to take the time to figure out WHY you want to follow your dream. What would it mean to you, how would it feel, what would your life look like? Then ask yourself what are you willing to endure to achieve it, because there is no doubt there will be challenges along the way, and it’s only if you have a strong WHY and vision will you be able to ride out the storms.
