Never in my life did I expect to be guest blogging over the Olympics for the Metro newspaper.
That’s not something in my wildest thoughts that I could have dreamt of.
I didn’t even know until about two weeks ago that Metro were inviting guest bloggers to blog over the Olympics.
Life did though. Life had a plan for me.
I have known for a while that I wanted to contact the Metro to see if there was the possibility of putting some of the Dream On interviews in the newspaper.
My dream was to get some of the Dream On interviews into the 60 second interview in the morning Metro.
Wow, imagine all those commuters and people on their way in to work reading about inspirational people who are reaching for their dreams!Imagine what that would do for the morning commute!Imagine what that would do for Dream On and the Dream On community?
My mind boggled at the thoughts.
My heart dreamt.
Yet, I have to say that having been a freelancer writer before, I didn’t hold up much hope that I would even get a reply to my email.
My head said, ‘Don’t be ridiculous. They won’t reply. Why would they?’
That’s why it took me such a long time to actually email them. Months really.
Then one day about two weeks ago, I closed my eyes and wrote an email to the Metro blogging section.
Two days later I received a reply….A real reply.
It was not exactly what I had hoped for. They said they don’t currently have external blogs on their online site…BUT they said…
Did I want to be a guest blogger for the Olympics?
My immediate internal response was NO! After all, what do I know about the Olympics?
This was not what I had planned for…Hah, but it was what life had planned for me.
The thing was….was I ready to take the opportunity offered and run with it?
I wasn’t sure I was ready.
Paul was. We discussed it that night and he said, ‘Go for it!’ He said, ‘You love interviewing inspiring people!’ He said, ‘You love finding people who are reaching for their dreams and telling their story.’
I said, ‘ok, I’ll email them tomorrow and see what they say.’
And here we are.
This is what I have been talking about for the last year in my blogs.
This is a real life example of when you follow your dreams, then wonderful things can happen.
I said I would be your mirror and hoped to show you guys proof in my life of what I have been talking about.
This is the proof.
This is the start.
Believe in yourself. Believe in your Dreams.
